BTC and Maryland Crab Bowl to partner

The Baltimore Touchdown Club and the Maryland Crab Bowl, long-time rivals in the arena of high school football all-star games in Maryland, have announced a new partnership for the 2018-19 school year. The Crab Bowl, run by former Virginia Tech standout Tony Kennedy, is in its 11th year. Kennedy and his staff will assist the BTC in assembling talent for Team Maryland for the 2019 Big 33 Classic, while the BTC select the players and coaches for the Baltimore team in the 2018 Maryland Crab Bowl. Maryland Crab Bowl Alumni include: Tavon Austin (Dallas Cowboys), Kyler Fuller (Chicago Bears), Kevin Johnson (Houston Texans), Marquel Lee (Las Vegas Raiders), Tavon Young (Baltimore Ravens) and Jelani Jenkins (Miami Dolphins) just to name a few. The Maryland Crab Bowl webpage indicates that over 50 of its former players are on NFL rosters. The game will be played on Saturday December 15th at Bowie State University. The BTC has already announced the Woodlawn coach Elwood Townsend has been selected o be the Head Coach of the Baltimore Team in this year’s Crab Bowl. Players from the Baltimore Crab Bowl team will come from the rosters of the 22nd Annual BTC Senior All-Star Classic. The BTC’s All-Star games will take place on Saturday December 8th at Archbishop Spalding High School. In those two games, well over 85 high schools will be represented and over 200 players will be seen by numerous college coaches and their families. “It is the Baltimore Touchdown Club’s hope that the pool of athletes in our games will help supplement the stand out players that only wish to participate in Maryland’s traditional Crab Bowl,” said Scott Ripley, Senior VP of the BTC. “In the past, some players have participated in both All-Star events.” Ripley also stated, “Tony Kennedy has done an amazing job off promoting elite high school football players in Maryland. With our help and the BTC mission, this is a win-win situation.” BTC President Doug Duvall also commented on the joint venture. “It’s all about the kids,” said Duvall. “We are trying to show the entire east coast that Maryland has great high school players. The DMV is producing some of the best NFL players in the league.”
