2024 Team Maryland Roster announced

The 2024 Team Maryland roster, which will battle Team Pennsylvania in the 67th Big 33 Classic on May 26 in PA has been announced.


Exciting plans are underway for this year’s Memorial Day Weekend festivities and the 67th PSFCA Big 33 All-Star Football Classic. This high school event was started in 1957 and is the premier High School Football All-Star game in the country. The game will feature Maryland’s best vs Pennsylvania’s best.  Kick off is scheduled for  Sunday Evening May 26th at 6 pm. The beautiful Cumberland Valley High School will host the all-star classic. Tickets are on sale starting today at, www.big33.org. Every NFL Super Bowl has featured a Big 33 alumnus and the streak continues. Great names such as Tony Dorsett, Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Orlando Pace, and Ben Roethlisberger have played in this game.





Team Maryland will be led by South River’s Head Coach Steven Erxleben. Coach Erxleben was a member of the staff that beat Pennsylvania in 2018. Team Maryland will be led by Dual Threat Quarterback Brendon Toles from Friendship Collegiate Academy who is committed to Hampton University in the fall. The Maryland resident Toles was named WCAC Offensive Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference at his position. Toles will have big targets in Tight End Jackson Gister (Calvert Hall- Rutgers University), Keshawn Mister (Concordia Prep- Old Dominion University), and Destin Hill (Reservoir- Monmouth University).


On the defensive side of the ball, the defensive line position will be anchored by Fort Hill’s All-State and All-Conference defensive lineman Carter Hess, (Fort Hill-Fordham University) and Sultan Badmus (Bowie HS-Temple University). Hess was crowned the State’s “heavy weight wrestling champ” recently.  The Linebacker group will showcase All-Conference players Kam Custis (Kenwood) and Jerrium Berry (Archbishop Carroll). The defensive back group will feature two of the top cornerbacks on the east coast, St. Francis Academy Kevyn Humes (University of Maryland) and Frederick’s Newton Essiem (Villanova University) Humes was ranked the 27th best cornerback in the country by 247Sports. He had scholarship offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Florida and USC before deciding on the “Terps.” Team Maryland’ s special teams will feature two great kickers in Kamdyn Koch (Winter Mills- University of Nebraska) and Chris Pond (Archbishop Curley- University of Maryland). Kamdyn is the son of former Baltimore Ravens All-Pro Punter Sam Koch. Pond, an excellent field kicker has kicked numerous game winning field goals for the MIAA Friars.
