BTC announces its 2018 Super 22 Team
21st edition to be honored on May 15th at Michael’s 8th Avenue The 21st Annual Baltimore Touchdown Club Super 22 Banquet Showcase will be held on Tuesday, May 15th 6:30 PM at Michael’s 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie, Maryland. This annual high school football banquet will feature 64 of the top current juniors (nominated by their coaches) who hope that their academic and athletic abilities will land them a college scholarship. Many of the players selected have received All-State, All-League, or All-Conference honors as juniors. Additionally, academic performance was considered as part of the nomination process along with performance on the athletic field. Players were nominated by their head coaches through both writing and highlight tapes. Nominated players were also given the opportunity to showcase their ability at a recent Baltimore Touchdown Club combine. The Baltimore Touchdown Club selection committee consists of 22 head and assistant coaches from the 82 members that are currently in the Baltimore Touchdown Club. Many of these coaches have won numerous private and state titles. They are well respected by the High School football community. It is a great honor to be selected to be a part of this team, as it will make each player visible to the numerous college programs in attendance, which may in turn make early scholarship offers. The Baltimore Touchdown Club takes great pride in the relationships they have built with numerous college programs. The banquet itself has become a long-standing tradition in the Baltimore Metro area as well. Players featured at this banquet have played for numerous BCS schools and other fine institutions across the United States, and several are on current NFL rosters. The banquet, which will have over 500 people in attendance, will also honor 18 adult winners at the banquet who will be added to the Baltimore Touchdown Club’s Football Hall of Fame. If you are interested in attending, please contact BTC Vice President Scott Ripley at sripley@stpaulsschool.org. Tickets are $45 per person, which includes a sit-down dinner.
