Supporting Chris Mason-Hale

Chris Mason-Hale, a former Western Tech football player who was paralyzed while participating in a scrimmage with the Wolverines in 2008, is in training to compete at the Baltimore Running Festival, with a modified hand cycle, to raise money and awareness for the Kennedy Kreiger Institute.

Since suffering a devastating spinal cord injury on the football field, Mason-Hale has gone through years of rehabilitation at the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury at Kennedy Krieger. In 2011, Mason-Hale learned to stand on his own, took his first steps since the injury and has made continued progress since.

"With this charity team, we aim to increase the number of Kennedy Krieger patients who are able to participate in the races each year, open the door to improved physical fitness for those with disabilities, and fund research towards a cure for paralysis," said Mason-Hale.

Mason-Hale is training for the race under the director of Western Tech football coach Alan Logan.

"It has been my great pleasure to coach him once again in this endeavor," said Logan.
