The Big Game has never been played without at least one Big 33 alum

On Feb. 7, the NFL will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl, the undisputed king of American sporting events. When the game kicks off at Levi Stadium in San Francisco another little-known tradition will also be celebrated by the Big 33 Foundation - there has never been a Super Bowl played without at least one alumni from the Big 33 All-Star game on one of the rosters.

The match-ups set for the AFC and NFC Championship games the continuation of that tradition is assured. Three of the four remaining teams have at least one Big 33 alumni on their roster, including both teams in the NFC. The only remaining team without a Big 33 player is the New England Patriots. The Big 33 game, which will be played on June 18, 2016 in Hersey, Pa., currently matches the top senior football players Maryland against Pennsylvania, prior to those players reporting for their freshman year with their college programs. In the past, Pennsylvania has also played Ohio and held an East vs. West format within the state. Here are the Big 33 alumni still alive for a shot at Super Bowl 50.
